Business Dispute Resolution: Your Options

01

Resolution Without Court

Lowest cost

Most business disputes settle through negotiation or mediation. We resolve business disputes at the lowest cost that achieves the outcome, and we prepare every case as if it will be tried, because that is what makes the other side settle.

02

Commercial Litigation

When it counts

When proceedings are the right move, we issue and run them properly. With extensive litigation expertise and persuasive advocacy, we understand what judges look for and what strategies succeed.

03

Enforcement

Making it count

A judgment is only worth what it recovers. We advise on enforcement from the start, so the target of your claim can actually pay before you spend money pursuing them.

Get Legal Clarity Today

Outline your dispute and we will respond with a clear fixed fee quote the same day. Our prices are around 30% cheaper than a standard law firm because you work directly with a barrister. No hourly billing surprises.

Every quote is fixed before work begins. If the scope changes, we agree a new price with you first.

Types of Business Disputes We Handle

When a business relationship breaks down, whether over unpaid invoices, a broken contract, a supplier or distributor falling short, construction work that has gone wrong, professional negligence, or a falling out between shareholders, directors or partners, the dispute needs a clear resolution that protects what the business has built. Some of these disputes put cash flow at risk. Others put the whole company at stake.

Whatever the dispute, the approach is the same. We establish where you stand, we tell you in plain English, and we design the resolution around the outcome you actually want, whether that is getting paid, getting out of a deal, protecting the company or defending a claim brought against you. Getting started costs you nothing.

Commercial Litigation: Process and Timescales

01. Letter before claim

The pre action protocol requires the dispute to be set out and answered before proceedings. Done properly, this stage settles a large share of disputes.Weeks

02. Proceedings and exchange

The claim is issued, defences filed, documents disclosed and witness evidence exchanged. Pressure builds and most remaining cases settle in this window.Months

03. Trial and enforcement

The court decides, costs usually follow the result, and the judgment is enforced. Few disputes get this far, but the side prepared to win at trial is the side that settles well before it.A year or more

Mediation for Business Disputes

Courts expect businesses to attempt settlement before and during proceedings, and a party that unreasonably refuses mediation risks costs penalties even if it wins. That suits our clients. Mediation for business disputes is private, usually done in a day and far cheaper than trial, and settlements can be structured commercially in ways a court cannot order: revised contracts, staged payments, ongoing trading relationships. We prepare mediation like trial, which is why our clients tend to leave with a deal worth signing.

When Enforcement Matters

A judgment is only worth what it recovers. Before proceedings we assess the target's ability to pay, including accounts, assets, charges and group structure, and we advise on enforcement routes from charging orders to winding up petitions. A strong claim against an empty company is worth less than a modest claim against a solvent one, and your strategy should reflect that from the start.
